Hugo Movie Review

By Ashley O.

Hugo is Martin Scorsese's 3D movie as well as family film. It is based off of the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. At first the 3D look though me off because it is different from how I seen other 3D movies filmed. With that said, it was an awesome movie! It told a story of a 12 year old orphan boy who lived in a clock station of Paris.

He had to constantly watch out for the guard that would turn him into the system. The guard was funny with his squeaky leg. His leg was damaged in the war so he had a brace on his leg but every time he would walk or run it would squeak really loud, echoing down the halls. It was a sad story for the fact that he had no family members and the one person that was really important to him (his father) died in a fire.

This movie showed how everything could be connected and how sometimes talent can go wasted. But with a little help and push the talent can be remembered. I loved the little robot that he and his father tried to fix together. The robot wrote! Isn't that awesome! Also, having the short films in the movie I would say was a nice touch. It seems to bring out a bit of history. It reminds you that not all movies were as flashy as they are now.

I love how the main character, Hugo (Asa Butterfield), reminds you that everyone has a purpose and this movie too had a purpose. Its purpose was to remind you that you too have a purpose and to show you what a good 3D movie looks like.

Not only does this movie contain our favorite actor from Sex in the City, Glee, as well as other very great actors but it seems like an overall fun movie. So come join me this December fifth at Manchester to celebrate New Years just a little early!

But you have to hurry because passes are limited and it is best to get them as soon as you can. Just remember it is always good to arrive early. Bring your blankets and hot chocolate because you will need it!

The Muppets Review! (beware...spoiler alert)

Have you ever felt like "Man, I miss those shows and movies that remind me of my childhood!" Will the Muppets will satisfy that need. It is a good movie to bring your children to, everything is in good humor. But it still leaves room for the adults to fully their nostalgia with jokes and humor that only adults will get but kids will think it’s funny just because it’s the Muppets.

At first the movie does seem kind of cheesy (not to mention I was hesitant to see it in the first place) but then you will slowly find yourself smiling and laughing through the whole thing. It is a classic Muppets movie, sing-alongs included. Kermit and Miss Piggy still have that I love you but don't love you relationship (don't love you meaning Kermit) but in the end Miss Piggy finally gets what she wants, her guy! While watching this movie I realized that I forgot how much of a Diva Miss Piggy is and she still has her fashion sense!

Not only was this a great movie but it came with a message too! Everyone has talent, you may not realize it but you do. Sometimes it may take a little encouragement to get out there and it is ALWAYS good to have a support group and have someone that you know will be there for you in hard times. At least that’s the message I received from the movie.

The movie passes for this screening went really fast! Since the last movie they made was years ago I can see the Muppet lovers rushing to see this movie. I’m happy to know that this movie has not lost its touch and that it can still make the kids of this generation just as happy as it made my generation. The Muppets is one of those movies that never gets old!

My rating for this movie 5/5...which is AWESOME!
